Spent some long due time with two old friends (Pirkei Avos “Ethics of the Fathers” and the Chumash ) had to crack open the Talmud “Sanhedrin 106a” to read of the tragic events In detail. And it says “the Jewish nation should not be easily brought down, but should the blow be sufficiently powerful they will never recover” (this started me thinking of what is taking place in our nation at this point of history)
The Sidrah of Balak
“When people are swept up in a spirit of rebelliousness, any attempt to stop them will only incite them further…” commentary on Parashas Balak (prophetic to our day we think we can stop them but only getting right with God will answer this rebelliousness)
The Haftaras for this portion sums up what is G-d looking for?
“The performance of justice, the love of kindness, and walking humbly with your God.”
(What we all need to strive for daily)
This is a parable I read in the Talmud Sanhedrin 105a
A parable of two watch dogs who were with a flock of sheep, and the dogs were fiercely hostile to each other. A wolf came against one of the dogs. The other one said, if I do not help my fellow, today the wolf will kill him and tommorow he will come against me. So the two of them went and together killed the wolf.
(Ethics of the Father led me to this passage when speaking of the righteous gentiles who will have a right to enter in with the Jew to eternal life, may we all recognize the true enemy the wolf that is looking to kill us and rob us of our inheritance in the world to come)
